Aramaic Prayer Community
Liberating ourselves through prayer
Service Description
Kelly Shivani Rose and Amy Bisazza invite you to come together in community, to learn and chant this beautiful prayer; and to allow it to heal and guide you through these times of great change. The original meaning of Yeshua’s Prayer, spoken in Aramaic, is deeply profound and far more liberating than the version we’ve come to know in its religious context. It is soul-filled, and a soothing balm for the mind and body. Each verse is potent, and like a gentle, loving guidance for connecting with the Divine within ourselves and with all that is around us. Its relevance transcends time, space and place. It is a prayer for all. NB: this is the original version of the Lord’s Prayer. We learn it in Aramaic, which is the ancient language that Yeshua spoke. Neil Douglas-Klotz, Ph.D. is a teacher and scholar that specialises in the native traditions of Southwest Asia and is the author of Prayers of the Cosmos, which is the book we refer to when learning the prayer. He offers a number of transliterations from the original Aramaic directly into English, which brings a deeper dimension to Yeshua's words. The evening will include: Guided breathing meditation Sharing circle Introduction to the prayer Learning to speak the prayer Chanting / singing Silent contemplation Interpretation and personal meaning Guitar rendition Please bring cushions, sheepskins and a water bottle. We will serve rose tea.
